The iPod List

Patricia Costanzo requested I do this hub a month or so ago. I told her that I was the last person she wanted to advise her on an iPod list. My MP4 player had movie scores on it - Conan the Barbarian, Van Helsing, Jurassic Park - and Deep Forest: a kind of world beat music, nothing even sung in English. Not the kind of music most people would want on their personal tunes player.

Then, as things tend to do, the idea got stuck in my head. I'd be hearing songs and thinking 'Hm, this would be good on Patricia's list.'

What list? Dammit, Beavis!

Obviously, I was going to do the iPod list. And once I got started working on it, I got into it!

So here it is - in no particular order, and by no means completely finished. If I were to make a 'normal' iPod/MP3/cell/PC whatever list, this is what would probably be on it:

Hey cool hub! And great pics, too! I envy the look of this hub as in totally! As for the list, I dare not question THE Music Man! I was kinda looking for a Britney though - like Ooops I Effed Up Again or something! LOL

Btw, my fave Audioslave song is Like a Stone - just in case you wanna know. But I'm sure you don't! :D

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Dude, I've always liked that song and almost (THIS CLOSE!) included it. I've never heard anything by Audioslave that was wasn't superior.

And thanks for the comments about the hub's looks. This damn thing literally took me all day long. And I actually started researching last night.

Gonna go veg in front of TV now. Been at this computer for way too long ...

I think you've set the bar higher for layout and design. This is pretty cool, it's so "chic" - now how's that for describing a hub, huh?

IPod Saturday, yeah, Roastedpinebark did one and you both.

-Cris, that's awesome.

-Eovery, thank you. I will.

-Patty. I don't know how much of the music on this list you'll actually want to download, but hopefully you'll discover something new.

CW, wow, I had no idea that we have a lot of the same taste in music.

I have to admit that I don't know all of these but I know very many and have them on my MP3 player also. I am going to check out the ones I don't know because I figure that are tastes are so close that I just can't go wrong with your picks. Great Job CW!!!!!

-Gwendy, Anyone with the same musical taste as me has GOT to have incredibly good taste! I am in awe of the both of us! MY GOD, how do we stand oursleves?!

;-)

-L.Mom, good question. A person's taste in music says much about them.

hey CW it has been ages. How the heck are you??? Geez miss stalking you. My God it is true...you are the music man, if only I could remember the name of the songs I might be able to do this sigh :(

Hi BP! Ya, been a few weeks or so. How the #!$%&^ are you?!

Well, let me know if you think of something to add. I've got a list going, and I'll add with every new 10.

The Lonely Hubber 2 years ago

Hi Constant

This is a very nice list, very ecletic but I notice you don't have R&B. Don't you like the "genre"? I like Portishead's Glorybox. Beth Gibbons is awesone.

By the way, you misspelled RAGE in Rage Against the Machine. ;)

Constant Walker profile image

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Funny! There's always something . Thanks, I'll fix it.

I do like R&B, but not enough to want it on an iPod. Also some very good country songs but, ... well, same thing.

The Lonely Hubber 2 years ago

Okay so that got me curious. So what R&B and country songs you almost-like-enough-to-include-in-your-iPod but still didn't make the cut?

Constant Walker profile image

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Well, let's see - anything by Gladys Knight. Bette Midler singing "When a Man Loves a Woman" in "The Rose." Beyonce, Usher and sometimes Justin Timberlake.

Country ... Hm, only thing I can think of right now is "With A Broken Wing," but there's definitely more.

The Lonely Hubber 2 years ago

I thought you were the ella ella ella ella kind of music guy. I'm joking of course. ;)

Constant Walker profile image

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

She's awesome, a living legend, and all that, but I'm not a big fan.

The Lonely Hubber 2 years ago

I didn't mean Ella Fitzgerald, besides she's a jazz legend not R&B. I was referring to Rihanna... "you can stay under my umbrella...ella...ella...ella" Haha ;)

Patricia Costanzo profile image

Patricia Costanzo 2 years ago

Well constant I did it. I listened to every one. I picked my favorites and downloaded them. I'm gonna need to find a cheaper Mac source for music than itunes if I'm gonna fill up my ipod though. Thanks a bunch. :)

Constant Walker profile image

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

-Cris, Oh!  I don't listen to Rihanna ... wouldn't know.  The only thing I know about her is her stupidness for going back with to an abuser.

-Patricia, that's great.  Hey, I'm keeping a list going for this hub.  Every thime I get to 10 or more, I'll add them.

PS: I'm curious, which ones did you download? Shame you don't have a 'regular' PC. I don't know anything about resources for apple.

Hey you just reminded me of a song I really like, Queensryche's Silent Lucidity! Coolness! :D

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Awesome band! Seriously. My favorite by them is "I Don't Believe in Love" (gotta add that to the iPod List) and, actually, the whole "Operation: Mindcrime" disc.

Not yet! My ISP's bugging me. It's as slow as my earnings from adsense! That's why I'm not making the rounds as much as I would love to. But i'll go check :D

Constant Walker profile image

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Thanks, Cindy.

-Cris, good band! I saw them at the Hult Center (Eugene,OR), and got to see inside Ted Nugent's Marathon Coach afterward. Those things are nicer than most homes!

My condolences on your slow ISP. I remember how enraging that can be.

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Don't recognize the lyrics right now - been many years!

Yes, you can say 'fuck it!'  It's very therapeutic!

Gotta go work-out.  Later?

PS:  I quit smoking Saturday - 4 days ago.  No pills, patches, nothing.  Just determination.  It was amazingly easy!

The Phoenix is evolving as we speak.

I'll hub about after chrysalis.

PS: Fave REO song, an oldie live recording: "Golden Country."

Constant I down loaded: Fly, Kryptonite, I Don't Want to Be, Street Corner Symphony, Smooth,... there's more but they are tangled up with my audio-books and I have to sort them out Ugh. I downloaded some Cranberries too from Cris' hub. Enjoying this thoroughly! I said thank you, right?

Constant Walker profile image

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Yes you did, and you're welcome. I'm getting ready to add 10 more - "Zombie" one of them. I was nodding-off to Craig Kilborn when #10 popped into my head.

Good call on Portishead ! They were never really mainstream but did some fantastic songs . And the Chili Peppers version of " love Roller Coaster " will have ya dancin In a millisecond . I would,ve added "Space Truckin " by Deep Purple too . Hard rock at Its finest !

Constant Walker profile image

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Thanks Tony. If it hadn't been for an ex-roommate playing Portishead for me, I'd have known they existed.

Space Truckin' is a very cool song. It was very difficult to only chose a few by Deep Purple, but everything they do is so good. The same with Portishead.

Wow, take off the Marilyn Manson (sorry) and there is nothing I wouldn't have on mine. I do have quite a bit of it. Way cool that you like soundtracks. I love them, esp spaghetti westerns. I am going to have to add Conan to my list :)

Constant Walker profile image

Constant Walker Hub Author 2 years ago

Thanks, Paper Moon. Just added a few more.

Marilyn Manson videos are like Michael Jackson: whether you hate them or love them, when one is on, you're watching.
